PCA Ultra Peel

The more intensive PCA SKIN peel: light flaking over several days and a fresher, more even-looking finish.

The PCA Ultra Peel is a professional chemical peel from PCA SKIN and the more intensive of the two peels offered here. It is a blend of exfoliating acids selected for skin that can tolerate a deeper exfoliation, and for clients whose concerns are more pronounced: dull or rough-looking texture, uneven tone, the appearance of congestion, or the look of fine lines.

The appointment begins with a cleanse and an assessment under magnification. The peel is applied in layers, with the number of layers chosen for your skin on the day; a stronger tingling or warmth than the Sensi Peel is expected. A calming finish and sun protection complete the visit.

Light flaking usually begins two to three days afterward and continues for several days as the surface cells come away. Once it has settled, the skin tends to look fresher, smoother and more even. The Ultra Peel is best planned for a week with no important events in it.

Suitable for

  • Dull, rough or uneven-looking texture
  • Uneven-looking tone or sun-exposed skin
  • The look of fine lines
  • Skin prone to congestion, once any active irritation has calmed
  • Clients who have tolerated a gentler peel well

Aftercare

Sun protection is essential: wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day, reapply outdoors and avoid direct sun for at least a week. Use only a gentle cleanser, a plain moisturizer and SPF until the flaking has finished, typically five to seven days, with no retinoids, scrubs, exfoliating acids, waxing or dermaplaning. Let the flaking come away on its own; picking or peeling it away early is the most common cause of an uneven appearance afterward.

Please mention any retinoid or acne medication use, recent sun exposure, cold sores, pregnancy or breastfeeding when booking. Each of these affects whether a peel can be performed on the day, and the final decision is made at the assessment. The Ultra Peel is not usually a first peel; Dr. Kerri may recommend beginning with the Sensi Peel.

Frequently asked

About pca ultra peel

How much will my skin peel?

Light to moderate flaking, most often beginning on the second or third day and lasting several days. It is rarely dramatic, but it is visible, so it is sensible to plan the appointment around your calendar. How much any individual peels varies with the skin and the number of layers applied.

What does the peel feel like?

A distinct tingling or warmth while the solution is on the skin, stronger than the Sensi Peel, which settles within a few minutes. The skin may look pink and feel tight for the rest of the day.

How often do clients return?

Many clients return every four to six weeks while working on a concern, and less often once they are happy with how their skin looks. Dr. Kerri advises each client individually; the Ultra Peel is not repeated until the skin has fully settled from the last one.

Should I start with the Sensi Peel or the Ultra Peel?

That is decided at the assessment. Clients who are new to peels, or whose skin is sensitive or reactive, are usually guided toward the Sensi Peel first. The Ultra Peel is suggested when the skin has tolerated exfoliation well and the concern calls for a deeper peel.
